Bletterbach Gorge

Bletterbach Gorge Use your holiday at the Hotel Kurtinigerhof to take a walk through the Bletterbach Gorge, a very special natural feature. The largest gorge in South Tyrol is located at the foot the Weisshorn mountain on the edge of the Dolomites, close to the village of Aldein. Here can be found one of the most impressive and interesting landscapes in South Tyrol. Over millions of years, the rock has been eroded and carried down into the Etsch Valley, opening up the different strata that can be seen today.

The walk begins at the Geoparc visitor centre in Aldein. From here follow path no. 3, first through the forest and then gently downwards into the gorge. Stairways and bridges lead you to the “Taubenleck” where the path begins through the Bletterbach Gorge. Surrounded by high rocks, you continue the walk along the dry riverbed until you finally come to the impressively high waterfall known as the “Butterloch”. Climb up the rock via a stairway and enjoy an outstanding view of the gorge. The walk then continues along the gorge through forests up to the Lahner Alm, and finally back to your starting point.
