Wine educational trail
This path takes you on a journey through the life of the wine: from the planting of the young vines to the tasting of the wonderful end product, you will experience all of the important events of the winegrowing year. The walk begins in the village centre of Kurtatsch. From there follow the “Saltner’s mitt”, a wooden hand that leads you to the start of the wine trail, leading some 1.5 km through the picturesque vineyard landscape. This unique experience is supplemented by clay amphorae where you can sniff the typical scent notes of the various wines.
Each Wednesday there are guided tours led by Mrs. Margareth Benin Orian, a qualified guide to the nature and landscape of the area and an enthusiastic winegrower in her own right. The first wine-tasting takes place on the Baron Widmann estate. There is then a tasting at the Kurtatsch winery, in the midst of the vineyards, with a second tasting at the Castle Turmhof – Tiefenbrunner estate. At the end of the wine trail a shuttle bus will bring you back to Kurtatsch, with a final tasting in the barrique cellar of the Kurtatsch winery.
